I have been wearing glasses since I was 8years old and I've always thought about getting LASIK but was really nervous! My Grandpa got Cataract surgery from the Meaharas and was so happy with the results so he refereferred me. From the First appointment they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable they answered all questions I had about the procedure. Dr. Maehara is so friendly and helps you feel comfortable about everything. I took advantage of a online offer so I got a great discount! The Procedure was really fast and recovery is really easy! I finally got 2020 vision ! I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is tired of their glasses or contacts!

Dr Jeff is the best and smartest doctor ever!!

I was suffering from vision distortion due a surgery that I had with another doctor. I went to 3 other surgeons for get help and thousands of dollars. I even saw a surgeon in Texas. None of them could help me. I thought I was going to have to live with the vision distortion forever. On my 1st visit to see Dr. Maehara he knew exactly what the problem was. I had to do another surgery, but ever since then my vision is no longer distorted and I can see! Now I send all my family and friends to him. There is no one else that I will ever trust with my vision again!

I'm very please with my decision to get my laser Surgery with Dr. Maehara. Dr. Maehara explained everything and thoroughly examined my eyes to be sure I was a qualified candidate. The day of the surgery, I was excited and a bit nervous; but everything went smoothly, there was no pain, no complications, it was fast and easy! Went home and rested, woke the next morning to amazingly clear vision! Throughout examinations and post surgery checkups he and his staff were awesome! Mahalo!

Finally got my LASIK surgery done by Dr. J Maehara after going back and forth if its worth the $$ or just wear my glasses and contact lenses. It only took him 10minutes and i now have a 20/15 vision! It was the best decision ever! Life-changing just being able to see clearly without squinting my eyes. Btw, I am an operating room nurse who specializes in eye & plastic cases. I circulate to a lot of ophthalmologist here in oahu and hands-down, Dr. J Maehara is one of the best in this field. He does his cataract cases 10-15minutes (that’s how it should be done), very straightforward, his techniques are the always the latest. He’s the only one I trust to touch my eyes! The staff in his Ala Moana office are all very nice. I will forever be thankful for Dr. Maehara for getting my vision back perfectly!

I was diagnosed with cataracts by my optometrist, who recognised a different ophthalmologist. I went to that doctor, but I was not comfortable with his staff. That doctor was pushing me toward the multi focal lenses and laser surgery that would have been about $8,000 out of pocket. I wanted a second opinion, so I saw Dr. Jeff, who was highly recommended by my mother. Dr. Jeff asked me what kind of work I do, and told me that multi focal lenses actually would not work well for me because I do mostly computer work, which is intermediate range. I ended up going with Dr. Jeff, and I am so happy with the results of my surgery. I was comfortable with Dr. Jeff and his staff from the beginning, and I saved $8k!

He said that my job, which involves mainly computer work, wasn't really compatible with multi focal lenses, as those lenses are good for close and distance vision, but not intermediate, like for computer work. Long story short, I went with Dr. Jeff, and I love the results. Dr. Jeff and his staff are very friendly and I felt comfortable with them from the beginning. I also saved more than$7k!!

Dr. Jeff Maehara performed my laser eye surgery 3 years ago and everything went perfectly! I now have better than perfect vision and could not be happier to live without contact lenses or glasses. His staff is courteous and helpful (they remind me of upcoming annual appointments), appointments are fast, and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. Took my mother to see Dr. Maehara at his Ala Moana clinic and she was treated very well by the staff and Dr.Jeff himself. Just waiting on the prescription glasses now.
